Texasliving Magazine Provides Readers and Advertisers Break from Political Turmoil
Statement from Mike Padgett, President, Texasliving:
Texasliving magazine is committed to providing unique, informative and entertaining articles for its readers, as well as individually-tailored and rewarding marketing opportunities to its advertisers. We live in a time where politics unfortunately have seemed to intrude into all areas of the media, not just in the news or social media, but in entertainment and sports as well.
At Texasliving we provide high-quality information, entertainment, and value, free from political bias and controversial political topics. Our readers and advertisers have strongly agreed that the last thing they need in their lives is more politics and division. Accordingly, Texasliving has made clear to our advertisers that any ads we feature must not include politically-charged or controversial references. If Texasliving accepted ads which referenced particular political stances or social views, then out of fairness we would be compelled to accept ads which disagreed with those stances and views as well, and inevitably some of our readers or advertisers would be angered or offended. We do not want Texasliving to be yet another source of division and strife in our society, but instead want to provide a product, to readers and advertisers alike, which promotes unity for all of us living in Texas. Unfortunately, this means that when an advertiser or writer presents something for publication in the magazine which contains political references, regardless of our personal opinions of the message, we have to reject the proposed message as being a violation of our clear “no politics” policy. Whenever an article or ad is rejected for violating this policy, we have always attempted to work with the writer or advertiser to craft a new message which is not political or controversial in nature.
