Create a Colorful Pom-Pom Tree Skirt

Want to add a pop of color to any tree this holiday season? We will show you how to make this tree skirt that even the kids can get in on.

First, pick out a color palette for the tree and the room for which you want to make the tree skirt. Here, we made it for the kids’ room, so we opted for more vibrant colors. However, you can use more muted colors, or whatever color scheme your heart desires. You can find inspiration online with a simple search for Christmas color palettes.

Once you pick out the colors, go purchase the yarn and tree skirt. The tree skirt can be white or any solid color that complements the yarn colors you purchased.

Then, get out your pom-pom maker sets — these can be found through online retailers and craft stores. This is where the kids can help! Make sure to follow the instructions carefully. Your kids will enjoy making these colorful balls of yarn! Make sure to make enough pom-poms for the tree skirt you are making. They will need to be placed all along the edges of the skirt with about three inches in between each pom-pom.

Once you have made all of the pom-poms, layout the tree skirt and get a hot glue gun ready. While waiting for the hot glue gun to warm up, figure out the order you want the pom-pom colors to be in. Then glue them along the edges of the tree skirt.

Let the glue fully dry, then place the tree skirt around the tree.

PRO TIP: Make extra pom-poms from the same yarn to create pom-pom ornaments to scatter around the tree. All you will need to do is leave a little yarn at the end to tie and make a loop to hang on the tree.
