Custom Homes Of Texas: Central Austin

The homeowners of the Allendale organic modern home found this newly built farmhouse in central Austin, but they wanted a more modern motif for the  interior. Through Instagram they happily discovered Robin Bond Interiors, which recently celebrated its 20- year anniversary.

“The owners wanted more of an edgy look on the inside with modern lines and pieces that created  a peaceful and welcoming vibe,” explained President  Robin Bond. “Basically, the house had been built, so all the construction and finishes were already in place but we put in every piece of furniture, accessory, or art work. It was a blank canvas for us. The owners also  enjoy entertaining and love to cook. They’re transplants from California so they have family that visits often.”

To achieve a calm space that also had flow and  consistency, Bond and her team incorporated mostly  neutral tones and fun yet natural textures with just a splash of glam. The owners, who are computer engineers, spend a lot of time at home when they are not hiking or biking the Greenbelt, so it was also important to them that the furniture was extra comfortable.

They now love having their family over to share the  space with them and feel the welcoming aspect of their new home has been perfectly achieved.

The dining room exemplifies the organic look and feel the owners desired by adding candleholders on the table made out of natural twigs, which pair nicely with the already installed lighting fixture that resembled a branch. “Here again, we wanted to accomplish maximum seating for dinner parties while allowing plenty of flow.”
Although the kitchen remained as it was originally built, Bond added a flat-weave rug in a neutral mix of black and warm tones with black fringe. Because the owner wished for comfort, the chosen rug is a blend of cotton and wool. Additionally, Bond added backless barstools and some simple, striking accessories to the island.
Located upstairs outside of the owners’ home offices is the loft space Bond likes to call the treehouse, as the view puts them among the beautiful, mature trees on the property. The owners enjoy nestling into this lovely cream colored sectional by Black Label and playing video games after a long day of work. “It’s so comfortable, it’s like a cloud,” Bond said.
