Fishing Texas Coast

Planning on fishing at the beach this summer? You can catch an array of species from whiting, ladyfish, bluefish, redfish, black drum, trout, stingray, sharks, jack crevalle, pompano, and more!
Here are some areas to target saltwater fish during the summer:

On the Beach

From the beach you can catch all the fish above. Use spider weights and cast up current so your bait stays put and does not roll in with the waves. Match the hatch or use whatever bait is in the water at the time. Mullet, shrimp, or even Fishbites® generally work well.

Jetties/Piers

Be prepared with lots of tackle. You will lose plenty of gear fishing from the jetty by getting hung on rocks.Live mullet, live shrimp, and artificials like spoons work great. Most dead baits will get picked away by pin perch.

In the Bay

Fishing from a boat or kayak can be tons of fun. Use artificials like soft plastics, live shrimp under a popping cork,
or cut bait off the bottom can produce nice fish.
