As the cool crisp autumn air begins to blow through Texas skies, apple orchards across the state also prepare for the new season to bring in a plentiful harvest and people who love the fruit. Lucky for you, there are plenty of farms around Texas ready for apple-lovin’ visitors. So grab a bucket or a bag, and get red-y to go apple picking!

The Orchard | 12206 East Highway 62 | Idalou, Texas 79329

With about 6,000 apple trees, 30 varieties of apples, and 29 years of history, The Orchard in Idalou, Texas is a must-see apple farm that will make you say “how ‘bout them apples?” Stop by their on-site store for some scrumptious apple sweets, such as their delicious apple butter or famous German Apple Cake. 

Apple Valley Orchard | 12340 South Highway 16 | Llano, Texas 78643

With 32 acres of land, Apple Valley Orchard in Llano, Texas has a great variety of apples to pick. Take your family, friends, or partner and take the day to pick a few apples and browse their store, which sells ice cream, honey, and lots of apple products. 

Froberg Farms | 3601 West Highway 6 | Alvin, Texas 77511Grandma & Teen Apple Picking

Froberg Farms is not only a great place to pick apples, but also is the perfect place to celebrate autumn with their annual fall festival, which begins the last weekend of September and lasts until the first weekend in November. They offer a corn maze, pumpkin patch, flower-picking, and so many fun fall activities for the whole family. You will not want to miss it!

Efurd Orchards | 4004 Highway 271 South | Pittsburg, Texas 75686

A day at Efurd Orchards promises an apple-solutely great time. Not only will you and your crew savor some sweet apples, but the orchard also sells other delicious fresh fruits and vegetables, along with many homemade products. Currently, the farm is open for fall, and has a corn maze, opportunities for flower-picking, and also sells fall-flavored homemade ice cream that will be sure to put a smile on your face and an apple in your eye!

Love Creek Orchards | 14024 TX-16 North | Medina, Texas 78055

As the “pioneers of the Texas Apple Industry,” as stated on their website, it is no doubt that Love Creek Orchards are in-ciders when it comes to how to harvest the perfect apples. In October, the orchard puts on their annual Great Hill Country Pumpkin Patch, which is a fall festival designed just for the kiddos. Stop by and stay a while!
