Austin’s iconic and historic hotel, The Driskill, recently unveiled its most recent renovation spearheaded by Texas architecture firm, Clayton Korte: the redesign of fourteen guest suites in the historic wing of the hotel. This renovation focused on enhancing the unique personalities of each suite, while also providing added functionality and comfort. Some of the efforts made in this full renovation include revamping the bathrooms with walk-in showers and clawfoot soaking tubs, updating fixtures and finishes, and repurposing existing museum-quality artwork to showcase in the suites. These added amenities, along with many others, ensure a one-of-a-kind luxury experience for guests.
“Throughout history, The Driskill has been a legendary landmark in Texas hospitality,” General Manager of The Driskill Chris Collins said. “We’re excited to invite Texans and visitors alike into the newly updated suites, which have been modernized for maximum comfort but still maintain the same historic charm with their own personality.”
While the legendary hotel has been open for 135 years, this renovation is the first full room renovation since 1998. Starting in September of 2022, The Driskill has plans to renovate the entire downtown property, including the remaining 175 guest rooms and other hotel spots, including The Driskill Bar and the 1886 Café & Bakery.
Located on 6th street in the heart of Downtown Austin, there are endless opportunities to experience the city. In fact, the Texas Capitol is only a short walk away. And because of the hotel’s great location, the views from the suite’s balconies showcase much of the Austin skyline and are indisputably breathtaking.
The newly renovated suites are now available for reservation, so venture on out to Austin, and stay for a historic Texas escape.
